CAMOUFLAGE

So here is that chased and repousse necklace that I had been working so hard on a month or so ago.

The assignment was to work with the idea of camouflage. Inspired by aggressive mimicry in nature, I decided to create a necklace that is essentially aesthetically pleasing, yet the back of each chased and repousse piece would be covered with spikes (escutcheons soldered in place). So while it is an aesthetically pleasing piece to wear, it is not a pleasant experience in any way. I can assure you it hurts quite a bit to wear. As you can see, my chest is a bit red from wearing it during critique.

I have the gift of neither the spoken nor the written word, especially if I have to say something about myself or my work. Whoever wants to know something about me (as an artist, the only notable thing) ought to look carefully at my pictures and try and see in them what I am and what I want to do. Gustav Klimt

P o t t e r m o r e

I must confess that I am a total Harry Potter nerd. I have adored the series ever since I read the first book way back when it first came out. I have read all of the books as well as seen all of the movies. So naturally when Pottermore opened to public, I joined. I have been waiting since this past summer, when beta began.

It is with great pride that I can say that my wand and my house are so true to me. I honestly did think I was Slytherin for a while there. I was really shocked! Seriously, though, I’m very proud to call myself a Hufflepuff. The common room is basically a heavenly, cozy garden.

So if you want to add me, I’m NoxErised9460. Let me know (by sending me a little comment in my ask box) who you are on there if you’re planning on adding me, though. I want to add nicknames.

I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO LOVES TILLANDSIAS

One day I will have a terrarium/succulent indoor garden. They are so beautiful!

In Drawing, I will be creating a series that utilizes drapery. As such, I have been studying what other artists have done in their work with drapery. My goal is to utilize fabric in the same manner as Botticelli and the Greek artists with the wet drapery effect/look. I just thought I would share some of my finds.
